About EDJ Environmental
Leadership in Chemical Safety
& Environmental Compliance
Darin Perrollaz is an environmental chemist with more than 36 years of experience helping organizations navigate complex environmental and chemical safety requirements. After spending over two decades building and running his own company, Darin sold the business and went on to support several Fortune 500 organizations.
While that work expanded his technical reach, Darin found himself missing what mattered most to him: working closely with clients, understanding their operations firsthand, and building long-term professional relationships.
That focus ultimately brought him back to a smaller, relationship-driven environment at EDJ, where hands-on support and practical problem-solving remain the priority.
Throughout his career, Darin has developed and managed comprehensive waste and chemical safety programs for healthcare systems, biotechnology and biopharma companies, and small manufacturing operations.
His experience includes complex chemical inventory management and lab pack projects, waste characterization and designation, chemical hygiene programs, Hazardous Material Inventory Statements, staff training, and industrial hygiene support. He has also successfully project-managed major facility relocations and site closures for large biotech research campuses, ensuring safe, compliant, and well-coordinated transitions.
One of Darin’s lifelong ambitions was to go into the coffee business with his brother. That dream was realized in 2022 when they purchased San Juan Island Roasters, a well-loved island coffee company.
Darin lives in Cle Elum, Washington with his wife, two dogs, fourteen chickens, and six beehives. When he is not working, you will likely find him tending the hives, caring for the animals, enjoying exceptional coffee, or appreciating the quieter pace of life in Central Washington.

Who We Are
-
We believe effective compliance is built through clarity, consistency, and practical execution.
Our work begins by understanding how your operation actually functions. Not how it looks on paper, but how materials are handled, how staff work day to day, and where risk truly exists. From there, we develop solutions that align regulatory requirements with real-world workflows.
We focus on programs that can be implemented, maintained, and defended. That means clear documentation, practical training, and guidance that supports daily operations rather than complicating them. Our approach is hands-on, direct, and grounded in decades of experience working inside regulated facilities.
Compliance should support safe, efficient operations. Not slow them down.
-
Practical Solutions
We prioritize solutions that work in real environments. Our recommendations are designed to be used, understood, and sustained by the people responsible for them.
Regulatory Integrity
We take regulatory requirements seriously and apply them accurately. Our work is grounded in current standards, inspection expectations, and defensible documentation.
Accountability
We believe responsibility matters at every level. Our programs support clear roles, clear procedures, and consistent follow-through.
Relationships
We value long-term partnerships built on trust and transparency. We intentionally work in a way that allows us to remain accessible, responsive, and engaged with our clients.
Experience Over Theory
Our guidance reflects years of hands-on experience managing compliance challenges, inspections, and complex operational changes. We focus on what works in practice, not just what looks good on paper.

EDJ was built on the belief that environmental and chemical safety compliance is most effective when it is personal, practical, and rooted in experience.
After decades working across the environmental industry, including building and running a successful company and later supporting large national organizations, it became clear that scale often comes at the cost of connection. While the work was technically complex, the opportunity to partner closely with clients and understand their operations firsthand was limited.
EDJ was formed to return to a more focused, relationship-driven model. One where experience is applied directly, communication is clear, and clients are treated as partners rather than account numbers.
Today, EDJ works with healthcare systems, research and biotech facilities, manufacturing operations, and other regulated organizations that value clarity, consistency, and reliable support. We intentionally limit our workload to ensure each client receives the attention and expertise required to build strong, defensible compliance programs.
Whether you need compliance support, training, or both, EDJ can help.
